Karen Clark

Horse: Max 10  year old Quarter/Arab who just completed his first year at drill, and oh there were was some scary things to deal with like crowds and loud music and we preferred to trot not canter most of the year but in the end got the hang of it and really liked it and got grumpy when practices ceased for the year But looking forward to an even better 2nd year!!

Family: Married to Doug (our official photographer) have a 3 yr old Cameron, a 17 year old foster daughter Jade, and a 20 year old stepdaughter Christie

Drill history:  This is my  first year riding drill, but have been a fan for 3or 4 years (my daughter rides on a youth team) I've never competed in anything with my horse before so this year was an all around first for me. Now I'm officially hooked!!

Why do I enjoy Drill?:  As a 42 year old working mother with 2 kids  at home, living on a farm with 14 animals this is the ultimate ME TIME!!! Plus I couldn't ask for a better group of ladies to ride with. They are so much fun and give me so much courage. I started this year just being able to stay on a horse and not fall off and now with all the things I've learned and the encouragement they've all given me I can not only stay on a horse but also eat my dinner, smoke a cigarette, tell a joke, get my uniform on ,do a series of intricate drill patterns  and answer my cell phone all the while at warp speed on my horse!!!!
